Apartment 5, Thurnher's Residenzen

Apartment 5 is the biggest of the five at Thurnher's Residenzen: 190 square metres, four bedrooms, four bathrooms and a guest WC, sleeping eight.

The living and dining area is open-plan, with a fully equipped kitchen and a table long enough for everyone at once. There are sofas in front of the fireplace for the end of the day, and four balconies, each looking at the Zürs mountain panorama. The style through the building is modern alpine — whitewashed oak floors, warm beige, Italian and Scandinavian pieces.

The position is the thing. The Residenzen stand directly beside the Zürser See lift, so it is ski-in, ski-out in the literal sense, with an in-house ski room to lock your kit in overnight. Thurnher's Alpenhof is a hundred metres away, and guests here have free use of its spa — indoor pool, saunas, steam room — and of its restaurant, which carries a mention in the Michelin Guide. Breakfast can be brought to the apartment.

Zürs itself sits on the Arlberg, in the Ski Arlberg area, and stays small by design. Opened in December 2016, the Residenzen are the first and only serviced apartments in the village.
